Gordon Brown Stole From The Old And The Poor

.

Gordon Brown Stole From The Old And The Poor Gordon Brown defied repeated warnings from his own officials about the potentially devastating impact of his £5 billion-a-year raid on pension funds and went ahead with it regardless, The Times can reveal.

Yes indeed. As mentioned on this very blog, just a few days ago, Gordon Brown has NOT been a good Chancellor as everyone in the media seems to think.

Documents that were released to The Times under the Freedom of Information Act show that officials told Mr Brown:
–– The lower paid would be worse off under the new rules
–– Pensioners due to retire would lose out immediately
–– Businesses would struggle to adjust to the change
–– It would cost pension providers £4 billion a year
–– Pension benefits would be cut
–– Shares could drop by between 6 per cent and 20 per cent
–– The value of existing pension funds could fall immediately by £50 billion
–– Local authority schemes would need topping up, leading to higher public spending
–– The Department of Trade and Industry would be “gravely concerned” about having to bail out pension schemes driven into insolvency

And it all happened.

To repeat what I said before: Our economy is doing well because of the huge progress in internet and mobile techology that took off just when Gordon Brown took up office in 1997, and because of the enormous amount of money that he stole from pensioners in order to bolster 'government' spending.

Gordon Brown is no different from Blair. He is underhand, malicious and self-serving.

And if you read the article, you will discover that he also tried to block this information from coming out.

Taxpayers To Be Presumed Guilty

.

Taxpayers To Be Presumed Guilty Taxpayers can no longer expect to be presumed innocent by the taxman under proposed changes that will increase penalties for unpaid tax.

Under the changes, introduced in the Commons last week, taxpayers will be forced to second-guess assessments from HM Revenue & Customs inspectors and scrutinise the work of their own accountants or pay hefty penalties for mistakes.

... Chas Roy-Chowdhury, head of tax at the Association for Chartered Certified Accountants, said it was “unfair” to expect taxpayers to understand a complicated tax system better than their advisers and Revenue authorities.

The 'justice' system is debauched, yet again. The government bureaucrats are given more power to hurt people, yet again. And the government squeezes more out of the taxpayer, yet again.

UK Nurses Do Not Trust Their Own Hospitals

.

UK Nurses Do Not Trust Their Own Hospitals Only two in five Health Service staff would be happy to be treated at their own hospital, a survey has revealed.

In a massive vote of no-confidence from the workers, just 39 per cent said they would be satisfied with the standard of care if they were admitted as a patient.

... Amost a third of staff – and almost a half of ambulance workers – said they had experienced violence or abuse from patients.

Hmm. I wonder why it is that so many patients are behaving abusively towards the NHS staff these days.

Hmm. Let me think now.

Hmm. Perhaps it is the colour of their uniforms.

Nah.

Hmm. Perhaps it is to do with global warming.

Nah.

Hmm. Perhaps it is to do with the fact that the NHS staff seem to be so rude and dismissive of their patients and have been found on numerous occasions to be neglecting them horribly - even the ones who are seriouly ill and dying.

Maybe that has something to do with it!

Nah.

...........................................

True story coming up.

I was once at a London hospital having various tests, at the end of which I was sent to the appointments desk to make a further appointment. The woman in attendance was on the phone. "I'll be with you shortly. Take a seat."

I took a seat.

And as I waited - for ten minutes - I heard this woman talking to someone who was obviously a barman, and the conversation with him concerned the possibility of him employing her daughter for a summer vacation job.

I was not happy.

Through my taxes, I pay for that woman - in fact, I am forced to pay for that woman - to do a certain job. But she does not do it properly. Furthermore, she wastes my time and she wastes NHS resources.

And her manner is appalling.

Maybe this is the kind of thing that makes people abusive.

NHS Swamped By Immigrants

.

NHS Swamped By Immigrants Maternity services are under strain because of recently-arrived Eastern Europeans seeking pregnancy care and abortions on the Health Service, experts have said.

Extravagant Head Keeps Job A headmaster spent thousands of pounds of school funds on trips to Australia and Austria, alcohol-fuelled parties and breaks at luxury hotels.

David Smith paid cash to his wife and son, and authorised overtime payments and consultancy fees for himself.

On one trip to London he even bought a suit for himself and his deputy with taxpayers' money.

Ah yes. The UK taxpayer is expected to fund numerous services for thousands of immigrants and the luxury lifestyles of thousands of government workers.

When are we going to stop being ripped off, eh?

Meanwhile, this is what we do to our own people - "because we cannot afford to do anything else" ...

Old Couple Forcibly Separated After six decades together, Eric and Betty Dunnell looked forward to continuing their loving relationship into their twilight years.

But the devastated couple face being torn apart because of a local authority ruling.

Yep. The government keeps telling us that we must forever pay more in taxes if we want decent services - but they do not seem to have problems finding an enormous amount of money to pay for a huge number of services for immigrants, or for paying many of their own staff very handsomely indeed.

And, with regard to the former, I recall seeing on the TV a local authority admitting to paying for a middle-aged Turkish woman to have private therapy to help her give up smoking, and they also employed a translator to help her with this therapy because she could not speak English!

QUESTION: When are we going to stand up to our self-serving politicians and demand that they use our money to serve us, rather than everyone else and, of course, themselves?

Peaceful Protests Banned By Judge

.

Peaceful Protests Banned By Judge - Alex Thompson - Chief CH4 News Correspondent

Once upon a time there was a power station. And a lake. And a village next to the lake.

One day, the men in charge of the power station decided they had to do something with all the ash produced by burning so much coal at the power station.
"I know," they said, "let's fill in the lake with half a million tons of ash. OK - so it contains arsenic, but not that much. I'm sure the council in Oxford will say yes, that's ok."
"Yes - that's ok, " said the people in the planning department.
But the villagers were not at all happy. They protested.
And there, dear viewer, things would have stayed. Until Npower, which runs Didcot power station, suddenly did something extraordinary. They went along to the High Court one afternoon and got an injunction which is so wide-ranging it not only bans peaceful protest at or near the site of the lake, but it bans the media, or you, or anybody else, from filming the company as it goes about destroying the woods around the lake prior to filling it in.
The protesters and the media hadn't got a clue this was happening. They had no chance to put their side of the case. The only evidence the company produced in court was a bunch of largely anonymous witness statements from their security guards, who claimed they were harassed by protesters. Not one of these people was even in court, let alone cross-examined.
And so it is in Britain today. Under the Protection from Harassment Act of 1997 things which we claim to hold dear: freedom of peaceful protest, assembly, the press, have been disappeared at a stroke by High Court judges who only ever hear one side of the argument with 'evidence' which would be contested in any other kind of court sitting.
Corporations adore it since it stops any kind of meaningful protest. And politicians too seem quite happy to let all this simply continue behind closed doors.
At Radley Lake there has - Thames Valley Police tell us - not been a single arrest for any violent offience whatsoever. And yet a campaign of harassment was built on those witness statements and the protest and the ability of the media to cover it were shut down at a stroke.
So there you have it. Freedoms which people in this land fought long and hard for over centuries, are dispensed with at a stroke by uncontested evidence in a court.
Make no mistake. It's coming to a protest near you, unless somebody, somewhere, somehow gets up and decides that the Protection from Harassment Act needs rethinking from top to bottom.
You have been warned.
Oh! And you have also been injuncted, because as soon as you know about this injunction you are covered by it. Film or take pictures of what's happening to Radley Lake and you are looking at a maximimum of five years inside.
You have been warned (again).

Blair Lied - And Gordon Brown Is Like Stalin

.

New Doubts Over Iraq intelligence In the UK House of Lords last month, Lord Butler, who headed an investigation into the intelligence which took Britain into the war, was scathing about that - though his speech went largely unreported in the media.

Lord Butler is using the polite parliamentary way of saying that Tony Blair lied.

Gordon Brown Likened To Stalin Allegations by Andrew Turnbull, the former top civil servant, that Gordon Brown exhibited a “Stalinist ruthlessness” in government and had “complete contempt” for other senior ministers shocked Westminster but were resonating in Whitehall on Tuesday.

Yep: One is branded a liar and the other is likened to a mass murderer.

By people who know what they are talking about!

Gordon Brown is often congratulated for his fine handling of the UK economy over the past decade.

What always seems to be forgotten, however, is that he raised all our taxes by very significant amounts in order to fund 'his' various enterprises, and that he surreptitiously whipped about £800 away from each and every pensioner in the land not long after he took office.

And it does not take that much skill to buoy up an economy when you can dip your hand into the pockets of millions of people and take billions from them.

The only skill it takes is to arrange matters so that the people do not notice what is going on and/or they are prevented from being able to protest about it effectively.

Furthermore, since 1997, when Labour came to power, there has been a positive explosion in the use of the new communicatrion technologies by businesses and by government departments both big and small. As a result, the economy is a very, very different beast from what it was a decade ago. Huge benefits have accrued to the economy through the use of the internet and mobile phones, and the range of products that are based on these technologies has further helped to boost very considerably economic growth.

Gordon Brown had very little to do with this.

Indeed, almost any person who took up the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer in the UK in 1997 would have found themselves sitting at the beginning of a revolution which would have enormous benefits for the economy. And this, coupled with the taking of so much more money out of people's pockets in order to bolster government spending, could not fail to lead to economic 'growth'.

Gordon Brown has not been a great Chancellor of the Exchequer. He landed his job at a particularly fortuitous time, and he robbed the people out of billions without them noticing.

Well. That's my opinion!

Woman Teacher Falsely Accused

.

Woman Teacher Falsely Accused Having endured a three-year ordeal after being falsely accused of assaulting a male teenage pupil who launched an attack on her in school, the 58-year-old has just been informed she is not legally allowed to chaperone her own grandchildren to acting jobs and auditions. That's despite the case against her having been thrown out of court and her name cleared.

"I grabbed hold of him from behind, in a bear hug, just to restrain him. I wasn't holding him so tight that he couldn't pull away - which, in fact, he did. His shirt came untucked from his trousers as he did so. The other children were goading him, saying: "Go on, hit her! We'll be your witnesses."

Pregnant Women Abandoned By Nursing Staff

.

Pregnant Women Abandoned By Nursing Staff Thousands of pregnant women are being left alone during labour in overstretched NHS maternity units. Instead of being guided through what should be one of the most joyful days of their life, they find themselves isolated and frightened.

I could barely stop weeping when I read the article.

I wept not for the terrible pain and the appalling suffering that western women so often have to endure at the hands of their very own government workers or, indeed, from the very air that they have to breathe.

No.

I wept at their stupidity.

I wept at their stupidity in ever having believed that government - or government workers - would ever give two hoots about them or their children.

And then I wept some more when I thought about those poor pregnant women getting older, more frail and more ill, and yet being unable to have access to the best medical practitioners that men will have access to - all because they didn't understand the simplest of Maths (see my piece A Permanent Gender War) and because they were hoodwinked into supporting the feminist-inspired agenda of training thousands of women doctors who will simply waltz right out of the profession at the sight of an expensive pair of trousers rather than remain in the profession to treat their ailing gender colleagues; e.g. see my piece Is the Training of Women Doctors A Waste of Money?

And then I wept at the horrible way in which hospital nursing staff so often mistreat their - mostly women - patients, and at how so easily these poor pregnant women had been misled into believing that giving working women so much power in the workplace would actually be of benefit to them; when, in fact, it would simply make them idle and uncaring.

Oh, how I wept.

How Blair Has Damaged Our Democracy Britain's public standards watchdog has launched a devastating attack on Tony Blair, claiming that his legacy will be “as closely associated with the loss of public trust” as John Major’s was with sleaze. Robert Winnett

In his first interview since being sidelined by Blair last week, Sir Alistair Graham said that Britain was now facing as big a crisis over standards in public life as it did 13 years ago with the cash for questions scandal.

He is also critical of the behaviour of MPs from all parties in awarding themselves generous perks and benefits.

Dying Woman Can Be Prosecuted For Drug Taking

.

SAN FRANCISCO - A California woman whose doctor says marijuana is the only medicine keeping her alive can face federal prosecution on drug charges, a U.S. appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The case was brought by Angel Raich, an Oakland mother of two who suffers from scoliosis, a brain tumor, chronic nausea and other ailments. On her doctor's advice, she eats or smokes marijuana every couple of hours to ease her pain and bolster a nonexistent appetite as conventional drugs did not work.

The Supreme Court ruled against Raich two years ago, saying that medical marijuana users and their suppliers could be prosecuted for breaching federal drug laws even if they lived in a state such as California where medical pot is legal.

Because of that ruling, the issue before the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was narrowed to the so-called right to life theory: that marijuana should be allowed if it is the only viable option to keep a patient alive.

Raich, 41, sobbed when she was told of the decision and said she would continue using the drug.
"I'm sure not going to let them kill me," she said. "Oh my God."

Although the three-judge appeals panel refused Raich's request to block enforcement of the 1970 Controlled Substances Act, it left open the possibility that if she were arrested and prosecuted, she might be able to argue that she possessed marijuana as a last resort to stay alive, in what is known as a "medical necessity defense."

"I have to get myself busted in order to try to save my life," Raich said.

So how come that he is allowed to get away with it, eh?

Cannabis Granny Found Guilty But Defiant

.

Drug Laws Need Revamping Drug laws in Britain have been criticised as being "not fit for purpose" in a major report.

And quite right too!

Anthony King, professor of government at Essex University, who chaired the Commission on Illegal Drugs, said the "great majority" of drug users did not harm themselves or others.

Well said that man!

Cannabis Granny Found Guilty But Defiant A grandmother insisted yesterday that she would carry on cooking with cannabis despite being convicted of growing and possessing the drug at her home.

(She was given 200 hours community service and had to pay £1000 in costs.)

Adding cannabis to a cup of hot chocolate gave her five hours without pain.

And, in my view, people who would deny this woman her pain relief are nothing but scum. And I hope that one day they get some painful disease from which there is no escape.

That'll teach them a thing or two.

And I just cannot believe that these selfish sh#ts working for the government are still getting away with denying people - many of who are seriously ill and/or dying - access to a relatively harmless drug that can help them considerably with their pain.

I just cannot believe it.

And, quite frankly, this appalling situation - which thousands of people find themselves in - surely stands as a shining testament to the high levels of wimpishness and cowardice in the population - in other words, YOU - as people sit back and allow their government officials to deny their very own loved ones access to cheap drugs that could prevent so much of their suffering should they be unfortunate enough to find themselves with certain conditions - such as cancer.

Anyway. If any of you are interested in this issue - which you should be - here is a forum that addresses it.

'Indifference' To Be A Crime in Mexico

.

'Indifference' To Be A Crime in Mexico

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican men who display extreme jealousy or avoid sex with their wives could be tried in court and punished under a new law, the special prosecutor for crimes against women told a local newspaper on Friday.
Men who phone their wives every half hour to check up on them, constantly suspect them of infidelity or try to control the way they dress are committing the crime of jealousy, special prosecutor Alicia Elena Perez Duarte told Excelsior newspaper.
Those who stop talking to their wives, avoid sex or try to convince suspicious spouses they are "crazy" even if they are caught red-handed having an affair, are guilty of indifference, she said.
Men found guilty of jealousy or indifference could face up to five years in prison, the newspaper said. Mexico's individual states will determine the punishments, it said.
The progressive new law was passed this month to protect women from domestic violence.
In Mexico, about 75 percent of all murdered women are killed by their husbands, Perez Duarte said.
"If we do not stop this from the beginning, it turns into beatings, and the beatings turn into more beatings and rape, until it gets out of hand, and whoops, she died," she told the paper.
Perez Duarte said the law would be a weapon that women could employ to level the playing field with abusive men.
"Men ought not to feel discriminated against," she told Excelsior.
Perez Duarte said indifference, jealousy or lack of love were crimes against women just as much as physical violence.
"Jealousy produces a particular type of stress in the person that comes up against it," she said. "It is exactly the same. They are wounds, psychological scars identical to physical scars."
